“This mix is a selection of music that I’m really feeling right now, it’s got quite a moody and dark vibe through out probably being down to the house being so cold at the moment. Thanks to Rob for including me in this incredible mix series and I hope you enjoy it.”
9th Dec, 2012 – Episode 232, Bristol’s elusive producer Jake Martin aka Hodge in the mix exclusive, releasing on labels such as Immerse, Pollen, Well Rounded and Deadplate
HODGE ‘DUSTED’ (DEADPLATE RECORDS) Release date: 26th November 2012 Format: 12” / Digital
Deadplate welcome Hodge, one of Bristol’s most promising and underrated young producers for their latest release. On ‘Dusted’, Hodge crafts a unique sound that resonates somewhere between the sparse, delay soaked realms of primitive dubstep and the driving vigour of modern techno. Inspired by the use of field recordings and vintage analogue gear, the EP has a raw and insightful charm that should lure a wide scope of electronica enthusiasts.
Influenced by those around him, Hodge’s musical voice is informed by peers such as Pinch, Peverelist and Livity Sound, yet treads a distinct path of his own direction. Sealed with a characteristically hypnotic remix of ‘Turmoil’ by close friend Kowton, the EP marks the full arrival of one of the most forward-thinking young producers, harvesting the rich breeding ground and heritage of Bristol.
