Our favourite Manc dubstep imprint comes with the big goods this week from Marlow, previously known for releases on Storming productions, including the class split 12″ with Toastyboy. ‘Dispute’ is a technically accomplished floor rocker utilising an immediately recognisable string motif we won’t identify, to great mood setting effect. Expect to see some darkside screwfaces and lots of “ere, what’s that off?” type faces when this drops in the dance. Marlow hooks up with conscious MC Bongo Chilli on the flip with ‘everyday’, ramping up a midrange synthline driven stepper that’s garnered a lot of support from Skream, N-Type and everybody’s favourite dubstep queen Mary Anne-Hobbs.

Latest Scuba bomb lands with us this week after the rather impressive disappearing act carried out by a white label version a couple of weeks back. Just to confuse matters further, the finished copies we have now are upfronts so once again it’d do you well not to sleep on this if you want a copy! The Marlow remix of “Butterfish” takes care of the A side here, and it’s a skanking, wobbly vocal session that’s just about as breezy as anything you’ll hear this summer, or whatever sad excuse for one we seem to be having on these shores this year. “Machine” on the flip does the, erm, obvious thing and samples some choral chanting before launching into another relentless blitzkrieg, Marlow styles.
