ARTIST NAME: Dracula Man
TRACK/TRACKS IN MIX: Nose Dive
SHORT BIO: Currently working out of Berlin, Dracula Man is a Music Producer, Performer & Sound Designer. Musically, he is best known for producing and performing Dubstep. His style incorporates influences from a range of genres, with traces of Techno, Rave, Dub and IDM being most prominent. His tracks are built from unusual sounds, incorporating hard hitting drums and winding digital basslines, with a focus on melody and interesting structures. Having performed alongside Vex’d, Distance and Ital Tek to name but a few, he has crafted an energetic, fast paced live set. This experience has allowed him to test out material in club situations which is evident in the big sound of his tracks. His first release came in the form of a 5 track EP on Open Records at the end of 2008 entitled “Subjektive”. His second release, the “Chop Happy” EP, was released on Eight:FX at the end of March 2009. Watch out further releases in 2009 soon to be announced.

BIO:

Mateusz Miller aka Radikal Guru is a producer and dj born in northern Poland.
Based in Cork IE Guru has been setting up dancefloors around Europe with some of the heaviest dubstep beats coming out of the country. Heavily influenced by dub originators such as King Tubby, Scientist or Lee Scratch Perry, Radikal Guru produces sounds of roots reggae combined with dubstep.

Started in 2004 from making trip-hop, electronica and jungle beats he developed his sound by experimenting with ethnic sounds of Middle east and India. In 2005 Radikal collected enough material to put it on a demo album called “The East-West connection” which started spreading around internet community.

After moving out from Poland to Ireland his sound progressed even further. He discovered the world of dub music and it’s wide range of sub genres, including dubstep. In October 2008 he signed a record deal with Z-Audio and released some of his music with Dubbed out records.

He’s first promo release was a dubstep remix of a legendary Max Romeo’s “Chase the Devil” which recieved a great response from listeners

Fantastic Mr Fox started producing 7 years ago at the age of 14, with his music first being picked up in 2006 by Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq.

Regular support of his early leftfield hip-hop productions from Mr Lamacq helped lead to remix work for Maps, Shitdisco, Just Jack, Soweto Kinch, Polar Bear, Fulborn Teversham, Kid Harpoon, Julia Biel, Riz MC, The Carps, Make Model, The Cansecos, Marissa Nadler, Son Lux and most recently Untold & LV.

Following his remix of Untold’s “Yukon” Fantastic Mr Fox decided to up the tempo of his productions and his first two efforts, produced along side Manchester DJ, promoter and producer Rich Reason, were signed to Untold’s Hemlock label.

A second collaborative release with Rich Reason was put out on Black Acre, whilst FMF’s remix of LV-“Don’t Judge” will soon be available on 2nd Drop Records.

Fantastic Mr Fox’s first solo release is also now finished, with the “Sketches EP” due to be released on Black Acre towards the end of 2009.

Hemlock Recordings pull up some debut release business from Manchester’s Rich Reason in collaboration with Fantastic Mr. Fox. It’s hard to tell who’s doing what here, but the IDM traits of Mr. Fox’s previous releases are easy to pick out, while it’s also clearly apparent what’s on their recent playlists with strong elements of Zomby, TRG and Boxcutter fused into the sum of its parts. The trancing synthline on ‘Bleep Show’ will pick up fans of Ninja Tune’s electrostep and breaks types like Shuttle or those who crave for a fusion of proggy electronica with steppers pattern taken from the latest style. Promising stuff from the pair and worth a check if you like Sukh Knight, Sinden or Rob Sparx.

“I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since I did a mix for your first show, a lot has changed since then and I’ve moved on.  I’ve chilled out a bit but with that comes more space to hear in-between the beats and more interesting sound design.  That’s the approach I took with my recent double E.P ‘Lockout’ and the mix follows the same path but with fewer vocals and more beats.

For the mix, elements were taken from all over the place and layered together, a lot of UK funky coming out at the moment reminds me of old techno and warp stuff, mixing new afro-Caribbean influenced stuff like Roska with old Latin influenced Black Dog, Cooly G with Luke Slater”

HxdB aka hexadecibel is a 31 year old bass music producer and DJ hailing from Vancouver Canada.

He was first introduced to bass-centric music in the mid 90s, listening to jungle and drum & bass, which captivated his imagination and inspired him to be more than just a fan of the music.

He finally took the plunge into the production realm some years ago, purchasing a basic MIDI controller and a copy of Fruity Loops and alongside his old production partner, started teaching himself the ways of the bass. Those days were fun and innocent and not much came from the venture, besides a solid foundation of music and a working knowledge of the nuts-and bolts of how to make electronic music.

7 years later and many life experiences later, he had an epiphany. DUBSTEP! This new sound completely changed the way he heard electronic music, and gave him that same feeling he had all those years ago. It was electric, dynamic, exciting music, that seemingly had no boundaries. This new sound was just the thing he needed to launch himself back in to the foray and unleash his creative energies. His first productions exceeded even his own expectations and were happily welcomed by the dubstep community, which gave him the encouragement and inspiration to forge forward and strive to improve.

Now, 2 years later, he has an impressive arsenal of fresh music to his credit, has contributed music to several film projects, scored a documentary and has releases out and forthcoming on several notable record labels, plus a legion of faithful fans who just can’t seem to get enough of his sound. His music is soulful and evocative, always sounding very lush and well-sculpted, accented by pulsating bass waves with a healthy sprinkling of ear candy. Using dubstep as the framework, he skillfully fuses elements of techno, garage and 2-step, with interesting, syncopated rhythms and creative arrangements. His sound typically has a dance floor sensibility that often times, his peers seem to forget about.

The future for this bass architect seems to be very bright and busy, with a feature on Electronic Explorations, the legendary podcast imminent, plus an increasingly in-demand DJ schedule.

Ade Fenton Biography 2008

In 2008, Ade Fenton celebrated 10 years as an established dj and artist within the world techno scene. During that time, he has gone on to establish himself as a respected record producer for artists including electronic music legend Gary Numan, and also playing keyboards in his band.

In 1998, Fenton released the now legendary ‘Coded’ EP on his own Advanced label, and since then he has continued to deliver his own brand of harsh, twisted dancefloor beats with over 50 releases and remixes on labels such as Potential, Ground, Planet Rhythm, Audio, Zenit, Primate, Primevil and Perverter.

Fenton is also a busy international dj with a schedule that has taken him across the globe, from Europe to North and South America, from Malaysia to Australia. He has now held his residency at English techno superclub Atomic Jam for 10 years and he continues to electrify audiences worldwide with his fierce and unique dj sets that fuse thunderous techno funk and electro and combining them with his well documented love of industrial artists such as Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin. He has regularly appeared on BBC Radio One, recording dj sets for their ‘Live At Maida Vale’ and Mary Anne Hobbs programmes, as well as appearing on Dave Clarke’s White Noise radio show on numerous occasions.

In 2005, Fenton’s career took a dramatic twist when world famous electro-industrial godfather and innovator Gary Numan asked him to co-produce and co-engineer his album ‘Jagged’, which was released worldwide by Mortal Records in March 2006. The album was released to huge critical acclaim, reaching number 3 in the BBC Indie chart.

In 2007, the long awaited release of his debut artist album ‘Artificial Perfect’ on his industrial/electronic label Submission saw Fenton achieve cult status, a UK Top 75 chart single with ‘The Leather Sea’ and regular plays of the spectacular video for his single ‘Healing’ on MTV2.

In late 2008, Fenton returns with his first new techno release in almost two years, continues to manage a busy schedule including dj dates, live shows and festival appearances and once again teams up with Gary Numan with a new double CD ‘Jagged Edge’ and is currently in the studio producing his new album ‘Splinter’, set for release in spring 2009.

KID606 is dedicated to bringing his uniquely reckless fucked up and beautiful music to our fucked up and beautiful world. Insipired by the best of electronica, punk, jungle, hiphop, bass, dancehall and techno, Kid606 Fuses it all together with a love of pop culture that Andy Warhol would approve of. Apart from running the labels Tigerbeat6, Shockout, and Tigerbass, Kid606 has performed all around the world many times over, and released records on highly regarded labels such as Ipecac, Wichita, Mille Plateaux, Fatcat, Souljazz, and Carpark. His highly original productions helped spearhead and define the edgy and confrontational glitch and mashup styles that are now common in modern music production. His album “Down with the scene” (2000) was a landmark release for the burgeoning international electronic music scene, with everything from hardcore ragga jungle and serene ambient to abstract IDM and the dubby soul classic “Secrets 4 Sale” with Mike Patton. Things only got more exciting as Kid606 delved deep into the seedy overworld of mainstream music with critically acclaimed unofficial remixes that many people wanted to hear yet no one else was willing to make. All the while releasing his own original and diverse productions as well as official remixes for Amon Tobin, the Rapture, the Locust, Foetus, Depeche Mode, The Bug, Peaches, Dälek, Ellen Allien, Saul Williams, Super Furry Animals, and countless others.

His new album “Shout at the Döner” drops late April, and is easily his most accomplished record to date, it combines all the brash and exciting plunderphonic and sampledelic elements he is best known for with a whole new world of uncharacteristically musical and danceable hooks and styles which are both fresh and timeless. 606 draws on some of his biggest electronic influences like LFO, AFX, Mike Ink, Green Velvet, Mouse on Mars, the Prodigy, Daft Punk, Shizuo, Mr. Oizo and Giorgio Moroder, to make bold and powerful songs about the decline of America, leaving California, broken hearts,drunken hook-ups, social phobias, soulless partying, economic downfall, gnarly basslines, ego worship, moving to berlin, diva vocals, baltimore club, obsessive compulsive disorder, the best parts of horror movies, acidhouse, ADHD, shameless irony, speed garage, megalomania, LSD, satanism and the ever prevalent Döner Kebab, arguably europe’s best late night cuisine to consume on the way home from from the club, (Especially if you had to much to drink!).
We think this release is the Kid’s first successful stab at what we like to call “schizotronics” actually combining elements of many different Dance music styles into new songs without pretension,trying to hard to fit into any trendy genre, or losing the joy and energy of the driving beats and basslines that make music so fun in the first place.
