Now it’s 2009 and after being swooped on by the infamous Black Acre orphanage for electronically gifted, A.K. have seen a meteoric assent through the Dubstep scene via a pincer movement performed by both Rob Booth and DJ N-Type. The catalyst; a little tune called Pinball capturing the best elements of modern electronic music and fusing them into an 8bit punch up between Rusko & DJ Shadow.
To come….. after wowing the kids with their non-genre specific brand of Glitch funk A.K. will be featuring as primary remixer on the pending release of Unique 3’s classic “Shades of Grey” Via Mutate Records (April).
While keeping true to their roots, wonky outfitter Dealmaker will be dropping the vertigo inducing Donk! EP.
Lastly and on the not too distant Horizon, Black Acre will be presenting A.K.s debut album to the world, as yet untitled early reports liken the listening experience to an overly warm bubble bath with Rick James & Barbarella while battling biz markie on Street fighter 2 turbo on the SNES.
Watch for the promo only “Ulysses” Forthcoming on Black Acre, and the killer A.K. remix of N-Types ridiculous “Darkmatter”
- Jeremy Kyle E.P out in April on limited 7″
- Boom N Pow 12″ out May on Black Acre……
- ……N-Type hammering an exclusive VIP version of Boom N Pow that will also feature on his forthcoming Rinse FM mix CD

- Mix coming up for Bobby Friction Show
- Supporting Goldie @ Hit & Run in Manchester next month
- Remixing Shoplifter by EPROM forthcoming on Black Acre

AKIRA KITESHI – Pinball / Noglitch
Black Acre
12″ // £5.99
DUBSTEP / GRIME / FUNKY
Released: Feb 2009
Catalogue Number: ACRE008
Debut release from Japanese Scottish Akira Kiteshi with a powerful bass transmission for Black Acre records. It may be a little lazy to descreibe title track ‘Pinball’ as very similar to efforts by his fellow countrymen Goth Trad and Quarta 330, but listen to it yourself and you’ll see the distinct hallmarks of both producers wedged into this heavyweight track, with the detailed edits and gleaming structures of Goth Trad’s finest work merged with the clipped angles of Quarta 330’s 8-Bit functions, which is definitely no bad thing and should pick up the fella a good deal of fans. ‘Noglitch Part 1&2′ on the reverse opt for a wilder and more experimental approach, fitting the rhtyhm out with breakstep ticks and electronica twists for a rougher ride to the dancehall.
Akira Kiteshi are not Japanese as Boomkat may lead you to believe !! … they are from Edinburgh !! lolz

I’m going to be controversial. Love their tunes but hated the mix, bad selections and generally boring. Huge disappointment! Raffertie was the same when i saw him recently, awful set.
