About the mix:

This mix definitely says a lot about the mood i am in at the moment, from deep to bleeps to tropical to dubby stuff. Would like to thank to every artist involved for their big inspiration. Respect.

Biography:

Born in Venezuela, now living in Barcelona, Luis Garbán is one of a swarm of talents rising up in zero-degree gravity spots around the world: blurring the lines between many genres in electronica as easily as he crosses geographical borders. Having released two  full length albums on Murder Channel and Peace Off , and with a slew of EPs under his belt on Shockout, True Tiger, Ad Noiseam, Lo Dubs, Spectraliquid,  and Hyperdub, it’s little wonder Fact Magazine named him as one of their producers to watch in ‘09.

CARDOPUSHER – “Mutant Dubstep vol.2″
September 2008 – Spectraliquid SLQ004

Luis Garban aka Cardopusher has been releasing a serious number of records these past couple years for labels such as Ad Noiseam, Peace-off, Intellectual Violence, Mirex, Cock Rock Disco & Wrong Music, Terminal Dusk and more. Now, Cardopusher returns with a blasting new EP on Spectraliquid Records, the sequel to “Mutant Dubstep vol.1″ by UK’s Ebola. What you should expect from “Mutant Dubstep vol.2″ is 3 brand new sonic tracks, evolving around dubstep, hard electronics and breakcore explosions produced by the mastermind himself. 100% adrenaline, killer sound production and 2 ultra-heavy remixes by Pacheko and Innasekt, this album is coming out to add another significant moment to the ever expanding dubstep-influenced movement. Low bass frequencies give their place to powerful melodic parts, while at the same moment sinking to sick, rhythmic basslines and solid drum parts. There definitely isn’t so much stuff sounding that good out there so don’t hesitate to get this excellent release. Add a beautiful digipack packaging designed by wonderful graphic designer Mario Ferer and you’ve got the perfect combination at hand. Recommended.

This is the second release out of 3 in total of the “MUTANT DUBSTEP” series.
Tracklist:

1. Toothsmasher
2. Collapsible Shelter
3. Cockpit

4. Toothsmasher (Innasekt rmx)
5. Collapsible Shelter (Pacheko rmx)

CARDOPUSHER - Milk Thistle / Double Dragon, LO DUBS

Over the last couple of years Cardopusher has steadily developed his ultra intense edit style from Breakcore rhythms into a well diced form of dubstep with releases on Damage, Terminal Dusk and Redvolume and receiving a Quarta 330 remix on Hyperdub. His first release proper for Lo Dubs slots into the label’s aesthetic perfectly with turbo fuelled dubstep rave riddims similar to stable mates DZ or 6Blocc but light years ahead in the edit stakes, just check title tune ‘Milk Thistle’ to see what can be done with the gnarly mid range synth style as he freaks the flow into constantly mutating patterns whilst still keeping it strictly skanky for the dubstep faithful. ‘Double Dragon’ on the flip shows the connection ith Quarta 330 as he spanks the theme from the computer game of the same name with an ornate 8-bit dubstep refix that fans of Rustie or Goth Trad will be clamming for. Heavy goods from the west coast’s finest.

QUARTA 330 / CARDOPUSHER - Homeless (Quarta 330 rmx) / Sabacco, Hyperdub

Hyperdub’s unique Japanese talent Quarta 330 makes a welcome second appearance for the label with a further 8-bit development backed with his sensationally screwed remix of Cardopusher’s ‘Homeless’. His first Hyperdub outing was a brilliantly imagined gameboy version of Kode 9’s ‘9 Samurai’, but ‘Sabacco’ is an entirely new producion, built from similar elements like the finely squeezed game melodies, but also adds a killer swing-stepping rhythm to the cause with twitching snare rushes and spherical hi hat revolutions for somehting far advanced from his earlier release. But fear not 8-Bit freaks, his remix of Cardopusher’s ‘Homeless’ returns to the piquant electro territories with a hard skanking variant heavily compressed into shape and skating on slick silicon heels, with strafing bass and electro juiced edits making for 6 minutes of pure dancefloor funtimes. Off it!

CARDOPUSHER / ATKI2 / STARKEY - Down To The Wire (Starkey / Atki2 Mixes), Terminal Dusk Records

Restless post-breakcore steppers from Cardopusher for Terminal Dusk with yet another ace remix from Starkey (his 3rd this week?!?!) and Atki2. Over the 4 original tracks from Cardopusher the man manages to cram in as many edits and DSP’d riddims as humanly possible, making fro a skilled but slightly claustrophobic take on the whole dubstep ting. Starkey picks out the best elements of ‘Knock yuh out’ for his remix, and places thumping industrial drums work into acres of reverberant warehouse space, while Atki2 places moody dub chords over his remix of ‘Keep on truckin’, lending some Bristol cool to Cardopusher’s frantic beatwork.
