Combat Recordings boss Stormfield whips up a showcase of shadowy speaker-shredders from label artists.
Since launching in 2004, Combat Recordings hasn’t so much carved a niche in London’s bass music scene as hacked a gaping hole in it with a heffing great katana. Oscillating between brooding breakbeats, brutalist electro and rough-edged 2-step/dubstep flavours, label releases have been dropping thick and fast from respected bass technicians such as Ardisson, Blackmass Plastics, Point B, Scanone and, most recently, the mighty Scorn.
Featuring highlights from the Combat back catalogue alongside unreleased goodies (such as Threnody’s dubplate-only remix of Unnatural Causes by Paradox — a track you’ll never hear again in any other form), this mix was recorded late last year by label boss Stormfield. The full-length version of the mix is now featuring on the excellent podcast spannered.org — if you’ve not caught guest mixes on spannered so far, head over there and get up to speed.

Combat Recording’s showcase is really dark and uncompromising… also tnx for dropping Take Me (Boxcutter Remix) my copy hasn’t arrived yet, but we know its always a quality stuff from Barry
ps dnb intro is awful, man. imo

I’m always a fan of dark and evil. Nothing like Spor and DJ Hidden to start off the show and get me all hot and ready for Combat. Nice to see some dubstep influence in that as well. I’ve already picked up every single Point B release!

Great show yet again Rob.
Heavy bass filled Combat mix; reminds me a little of Scorn style; slow & heavy.
Loved the Reso track. Cotti tune is killer with that laugh; evil man. Ranking Records tune is great; been on playback for a while
And the Untold’s ‘Kingdom’ is brilliant.
Keep up the great work fella

another cracking show, great to hear some proper nasty dnb too, woke me up proper with that start  really surprised by that mix too, dubstep but not like much I’d heard before it. Think you could have chosen better Pablo Bolivar but I know you’re an Andy Stott followe.
Seeing King Cannibal reply here show it would be a good show to showcase a ZILLA/King Cannibal set, get on it Rob!
think I’ll start posting my wishlist:
T-Linder
Bitesize
Drop The Lime
King Cannibal
Raiden
